Bays Ride Populaire

The Bays Ride is a Delaware seashore classic, in various versions around Rehoboth and Indian River bays. This version takes in Cape Henlopen and its unpaved (road gear works fine) Gordons Pond Trail, an ecological wonder, and touches the headwaters of Assawoman Bay. Two critical matters are wind and parking. The long section on Coastal Highway is a great ride through the Delaware Seashore Park, but the wrong wind degrades this ride. Choose your direction based on highway tailwinds. Parking can be hard, and may be impossible in Dewey Beach and the Bethany area, including the designated start/finish. A sure bet is Cape Henlopen State Park, with a fee for motor vehicles. Daily parking can be purchased from Rehoboth Beach. Away from the main resorts parking is easier.
