This is the Permanent version of the Dambusters calendar event. Validation by GPS or E-Brevet only, start anywhere on the route. RWGPS map on the organiser website (link on the right) >>> A ride themed around the Dambusters raid. Head out to the Peak District for a circumnavigation of the Derwent Dams, where 617 squadron practiced before the raids, also visit Ripley the birthplace of Barnes Wallis. A few hills but worth it for the views. About 15km of off road cycle path(fine on 25mm tyres), mostly smooth hard packed trail but a short section of about 100 meters is quite rough, still fine on 25mm tyres though. Quite a few hills but nothing crazily steep. Some pictures from the route are on the webpage link below: https://shaun87356.wixsite.com/fourcornersaudax/dambusters There are some youtube videos of the 2021 event, links below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ayu-aWGuoY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfylxhGk4oQ The control locations pinned on the map top right, are the exact locations of the E-Brevet controls and your phone app will work within 250m of those pinned locations. These locations are also described in the route sheet, which can be downloaded below.
