Preston - Ayr - Preston

The ride is designed for a midnight start from Preston and based on a 30-32 hour ride will take you up the A6 to Carlise at night, a scenic ride through southern Scotland in the day followed by a ride back down the A6 at night. However this does mean riding two nights and one day rather than two days and one night. The A6 is well eqipped with 24 hours garages. If riders decide to ride the section between Carlise and Ayr at night there aren't many facilities between Ayr and Dumfries. The A75 can be a busy road, however there is an alternative B-road through Annan.
