A journey into Wales - but only just. Holt is just over the border from Farndon linked by a 14th Century bridge over the River Dee, with its 20th Century traffic lights. The outward leg is via Church Minshull, with the return leg crossing Manchester Ship Canal at Warburton toll bridge, but don't fret, its free for cyclists.
