Botany Bay

Starting / finishing at Crewe train station so local parking and services available pre and post ride. The idea is to get the climbing out of the way early on, so the Congleton to Ashbourne has the bulk of the day's climbing. A large loop out to Burton on Trent and back. Starting in Crewe heading out to the edge of the Peak District. Up and over Gun Hill to Tittersworth reservoir cafe for the first control, a few more climbs to get to Ashbourne where shops and cafes await you. From here on around Burton on Trent to the small hamlet of Botany Bay. The route home goes through the pleasant Cannock Chase before heading to Gnosall from where hopefully the prevailing tailwind should help you for the last 50km or so back to where you started. Whilst there are no AAA points it is far from flat!
