A multi-surface event using a variety of mixed surfaces (roads, bridleways, canal towpaths, forest tracks etc). The event is suitable for riders with some off-road experience and a suitable bike*. The route starts in Crewe which has great transport links (train station, close to the M6 etc). The route is over 1/3 off road and takes in several decent lengths of off-road sections including the River Weaver path, Marbury Park, the Trans Pennine Trail, Tatton Park, The Biddulph Way, Whitfield Valley Nature Park, the Stoke on Trent canal network plus much, much more. A GPX is supplied but no routesheet (you can either make your own by downloading the route from RidewithGPC as a .csv file or take a map and mark the route with highlighter if you are a non-gps user). 12.5km minimum speed gives 14 hours to get around. *In theory any bike will get around but ideally a tourer or gravel / adventure type bike with tyres 35mm and upwards with some form of tread pattern are is likely to be your best choice to balance speed and grip on a variety of surfaces. The route is likely to be rocky, muddy and slippery in places. There are a variety of road surfaces from mud, stony, loose gravel, hard packed gravel, forest paths, canal towpaths potholed strewn roads and even features super smooth tarmac in places.
