Climb a series of hills up to Baraboo, ride along the southern shore of Devils Lake, cross Lake Wisconsin on the Merrimac Ferry, then make your way back to Madison. Plenty of options for fuel along the route, including ice cream at the ferry. The ferry is typically open March - November, but if in doubt confirm ahead of time.
